Microsoft and Satellogic create a project to capture live data from Earth

Microsoft Latin America and the Argentine company specializing in Satellogic satellites have signed an agreement that will allow a global access "cloud" to be put into operation that will offer data Real-time Earth images collected by space technology.

Buenos Aires, Nov 9 (EFE) .- Microsoft Latin America and the Argentine company specializing in Satellogic satellites have signed an agreement that will allow an access "cloud" to operate that will provide real-time Earth data and images collected by space technology.

"Our intention is to transform all types of data into knowledge that allows the people make decisions, "Satellogic CEO Emiliano Kargieman said at a meeting with journalists that took place today in Buenos Aires.

With the collaboration of the giant Microsoft, Kargieman intends to carry out by 2020 the launch of 300 satellites capable of collecting images in real time from anywhere in the world and, in this way, provide its clients with predictive information that benefits their interests.

In this way, the work will allow, among other tasks, to calculate environmental disturbances, promote the proper functioning of agricultural work, perform tasks of monitoring structures and study "economic intelligence" to develop business strategies.

For Kargieman, It is important to maintain its production policy of "low cost", so he opted to maintain the characteristics of the six satellites belonging to his company that are already in orbit.

They weigh 35 kilograms, have dimensions of 80 centimeters long by 40 centimeters wide-approximately the size of a standard domestic freezer-and a cost of production that does not reach a million dollars.

"This will allow us to have a map updated in real time of the Earth with a wealth that until now does not exist, there is no one in the world that has access to that amount of data or that vision of what is happening on the planet, "added the leader of Satellogic.

In this line, the president of Microsoft Latin America, César Cernuda, stressed his desire to "empower" the Satellogic project, as he defended that the "digital transformation" is imminent in a globalized world and we have only touched "the tip of the iceberg".

"What we are doing is creating an interaction between different devices and artificial intelligence so that all this intelligent world is capable of give us what we want, "Cernuda said.

All information will be stored in Microsoft's" cloud "so that users from anywhere, governments and businesses can access previous subscription, but Satellogic will be the company responsible for its coordination and contact with customers.

For this, the Argentine company will be responsible for making a study intensive use of potential users who request this service, in order to prevent misuse of the collected data and avoid a scenario that could compromise global security.

A la The meeting was also attended by the general director of Microsoft in Argentina, Diego Bekerman and the director of Projects of Digital Transformation Microsoft, Ezequiel Glinsky.
